Justin Casten: I think you are doing a great job! I know homework at my house is a disaster!! My daughter is in 4th grade this year so I am praying that it goes better. She expects me or my husband to do her work for her and ends up whining and throwing fits, crying saying she cant do it.. Usually takes 3 hours for an hr worth of homework. We usually get so frustrated that homework time is so stressful for us all. You sound like you are helping her by making her help herself but keeping the stress levels down. I am praying this year goes better for us, she started school yesterday. I am gonna try your approach and try and not get so stressed!...Show more
Noah Deni: My opinion is that you can never be too prepared. When both my daughters started school their teachers told me I taught them too much at home. You have to teach to the child. My oldest is a science nut and was doing ninth grade science when she was in the third grade. My 1st grader is starting multiplicat! ion this year. neither of them are geniuses and we do struggle with certain subjects but school isn't hard for them. If they ask the teacher for more time they usually get it. I say stick with what you are doing and more power to your daughter for knowing how to do everything....Show more
Jannie Ariola: Kel - Good luck with that. I remember last year started out horribly for us. She didn't want to sit at the table - fine. I let her find a comfy spot to do it. Then she was just like jumping and talking off subject and telling me "I don't know how" as if that's supposed to be reason to put up the books. "sigh" lol, there were a few times that first week that my boyfriend literally had to sit on her so she'd stay still long enough to do her homework. Once she figured out that we will not let her win, things went more smoothly. And once we figured out the silly exercise as a reward / punishment type deal, she actually started looking forward to math and spelling!...Show m! ore
