You are such an inspiration. 25 years from now when I have a child ready for preschool, there's no doubt about it- I would definately send them to your preschool.

Pam Rampadarat: That sounds nice, it will be a lot of fun and really rewarding. I think it's a great idea to teach three year olds to write their names, my son was 3 when he started to do this. They used to have their names laminated with velcro or blue-tac backing. In the morning when they got to nursery they would take their name off their peg and stick it on the white board, they then used the white board pens to practice writing their name underneath. My son learnt this very fast and all the children in his reception class can write their names, they are all 4. I taught my son to read his ABC's with flashcards and make the actual letter sounds rather than th! e names, they do this at the school as well. He is nearly 5 and he can read and sound out basic words in beginner books. He is only now learning his ABC's. This is a great tool and there are loads of cheap reading programs out there that use this process. Make a behaviour plan as well, and let parents know the steps. What kind of snacks will you give? How will you cope with food allergies? How do you approach toilet training? What will be your settling in period and what comfort will you provide for settling in problems? Ronnie Panas: it sounds as if you have this planned out very well. I guess you are looking for a critique, so I'll offer you a bit of advice and also ask some questions. Your plan sounds really nice, but you do not mention what age group you are going to care for. What you can do with a two year old is far different than what you can do with a 4 year old. For example teaching a three year old to write out there name is not developmentally appropriate, since they cannot hold a pencil/crayon properly yet, however teaching a 4 year old to write their name is a great idea.You don't mention what method you plan on teaching these children with. Is this a Montessori type of preschool, high scope, or just your own views? If they are your own views, how will you convince parents that these methods are the best way to teach? I would want to be sure that my preschooler is being taught in a method that has proven success. What is you and your mothers experience w! ith children. Does you or your mom have a college degree in Early childhood education? Many parents want a person with a college degree schooling their children, or at least someone with many years experience working with children. I would say, it is not likely that your home based preschool would take off, if you have no college degree in education or at least 7-10 years working with children in a licensed daycare setting. If you do not have education or a lot of experience, how are you going to answer parents when they ask, "What makes you qualified to teach my child?" or "for the same price I can go ten minutes down the road to a preschool where the teachers hold degrees and have been in business for ten years, what makes this school exceptional?" Without a formal education in early ed or years experience, the chance that you are not fully aware of development, age appropriate curriculum, etc are high, and parents are not going to pay for that. What is your mission state! ment for the school? All reputable preschools have mission statements, ! which is your views on teaching and what the school will provide for the children in their care. A great mission statement is important, as it allows parents to know what you are all about. Your above paragraph almost sounds like part of a mission statement, but it needs to be clearer and to the point.Do you have a schedule that the children follow? Parents like to know what their child will be doing through the day, and it makes the school look organized. Children also need a routine to feel safe and secure. How will you break learning up throughout the day? How are you going to teach children Spanish? What method will you be using. Preschoolers have very short attention spans and will not sit at a table and repeat phrases, verbs and nouns. Will objects be labeled in English and Spanish? It may be easier to just incorporate Spanish into the lessons. For example, if you are doing a group activity and all the children are counting the days on the calendar, you may want to go! through in English and then have them go through in Spanish, same with colors, etc.As far as sports go, I think parents of preschooler are looking more that the children have outdoor exercise and play. If you promise the parents that the children are going to play and learn sports, they will expect that. Incorporate playing sports under gross motor, you can still play basketball, soccer, etc, but then you can also incorporate relay races, general outdoor play, etc. and parents are not going to expect their children to be learning how to play sports.Have you looked at other preschools in your area? Ask for a tour as an expectant mom, or a mother. See what other successful places are doing. Out of my schooling years, I would say that my high school years were the worst years- in high school I was alone during break times and I wasn't even allowed to read in the library because the staff decided it had to be closed during r! ecess and the majority of lunchtime...I was forced to read new! spapers standing up in the library foyer instead. In class I hardly spoke to anyone and couldn't wait until the day was over. I also didn't like the routine...changing for sport/PE classes, attending school on days with NO scheduled classes, being kicked outside during breaks, having no one to talk to, being made to do subjects/assessments I didn't like etc. As a result of this routine for 6 years, my grades slipped and I finally graduated from high school with average grades. I got the worst math teacher in the school; she had flunked out students who were good in math and I was creative ! and math was my worst subject! My dad, who always helped me struggle through math in the past was working out of town and there were no tutors offered like there are now. Plus, all my other classes were totally non-events and I was not being stimulated at all. I was a sophomore and it was the best decision I could make at the time. It is hard to stay motivated at home and it can be kind of depressing but it was still the best choice for me. Check out AMERICAN SCHOOL. They really worked with me and took the credits I had and applied them; somehow I didn't have to take as many classes with American School. He homeschooled throughout high school and he go into UCSD which is a pre! tty good school. Studies show that home schoolers are more intelligent! than others. I don't know how they calculate in homeschooled kids, because those total to 100% and they say they admit homeschooled students every year. But not every homeschooled kid takes the tests, and they don't necessarily compare homeschooled students to schooled students of the same socio-economic and demographic backgrounds. You need to understand how statistics are compiled and evaluated to understand what they mean. Those results mean that homeschooled students who take the tests score better than schooled kids who do, but they don't mean that every homeschooled student is off to Harvard with a just OK SAT score. My point is that you ought to do whatever you believe you will do best in academically. For some students, that's homeschool. For others it's school. An MA isn't an MBA, so that pretty much disqualifies him from teaching anything related to Commerce. He doesn't have any teaching experience, so his MA isn't very relevant either. If your friend really wants to work in higher education, he needs to get AT LEAST five years' relevant work experience in an area related to his graduate degree. This means he needs to work in something related to Education, so he can go back and teach in the Faculty of Education. If he wants to teach Business-related courses, he'll need to upgrade to an MBA and get more work experience. Should I finish with my dental degree and then go on to pursue professional pilot training or i should abandon the dental school and then go for the training? However, being a pilot (from experience) should be better than being in a white room pulling peoples teeth out (not from experience). It is far more interesting and you don't have to do a 7 year degree course to become a pilot. But at the! end of the day it really depends on what you want most....answers 2:Look very carefully at the job market. You will see that there is no shortage of airline pilots. They don't want people who think that it's just a "glamorous profession" (it isn't any more - it's a lot of hard work and boredom, but well paid if you are a Captian). Most new pilots work for the likes of Easyjet and Ryanair, and these airlines are definately not for the workshy. They really "sweat" their aeroplanes and crews and their pay is not very high. Most airlines recruit from the ex-RAF personnel anyway because it reduces their training costs. If you want to pay your own way to CPL standard you're looking at around £100k minimum, with no guarantee that you will get a job even after you get your licence.Consider applying to the RAF as a Transport pilot. They will assess your ability and aptitude. If you are taken on (Short Service Comission, about 16 years) you will leave with a very nice cash lump su! m and you will know how to fly big jets. You can then use some! of your money to to pay for conversion of your RAF training to a civil Commercial Pilots Licence (relatively cheap) and an airline will probably take you on. There is a shortage of dentists. They earn rather more than the average airline pilot. Also, if you complete your BDS and training you will never be out of work and still be in a respected profession. When you've saved enough money you can take flying lessons instead of buying a big car (my dentist used to like Mercs).So that is the choices that I recommend you pick from: If you are set on being a pilot then go via the military; If you can't face 16 years as an RAF pilot then finish your BDS and become a dentist. I rotate food every several months (among Orijen, Wellness Core, and Solid Gold Barking at the Moon). Why do I use Evo (and rotate)?1. We do agility. So it's particular important that my dog's food be quality. Innova Evo is a top-rated food at www.dogfoodanalysis.com and meets my understanding also of what a top food should be: high protein, high fat, no grains or cereals like corn.2. It's a small kibble size. I like to take some of my dog's daily serving (about 1/2 of it actually) and make him earn it through the day.
