Gale Hartt: asumab is absolutely on the right track. I highly recommend Onkyo receivers even though I am an obsessive Denon fan. :DI would step up to a receiver that is Blu-ray ready and supports the latest A/V formats.Onkyo TX-SR606... http://www.vanns.com/shop/servlet/item/features/53...Onkyo TX-SR706... http://www.vanns.com/shop/servlet/item/features/53...I would go with the SR706 if you have even the slightest inkling to dive into Blu-ray and want to up-convert your DVDs to 1080p....Show more
Marielle Hedeiros: I bought Denon AVR 788 from COSTCO for $299. Do you know if it will work with Blu Ray Disk player? Which one is better Denon AVR 788 or Onkyo TX-SR606? Please let me know. Thanks again
Jorge Gerrero: Start with adding a receiver to hook up the speakers/subwoofer to. You can add an amp later if you feel the need for more power, cleaner sound, etc.. But just start with a receiver for now. It looks like you will need a receiver with at least the followi! ng specs:-RCA input in front to hookup MP3 player -Automatic Speaker Calibration feature-Component or HDMI input to hook up DVD player to-"extra" component/hdmi input A good home theatre receiver with at least 2 HMDI inputs is a good start. Also since in-wall speakers have different accoustic personalities you may want a receiver that has an auto calibration feature so it can make good use of your existing speakers (it's hard to calibrate by ear or even sound meter because the accoustics/echo with in wall speakers). For example the Onkyo TX-SR506 is a great starting receiver and it can be had for less than $300. It is powerful, easy to use and has tons of features for the price. Check out specs on that then move your way up if you want something with more oomph. Depending on the type of speakers/sub you may not even need an amplifier so just start with a home theatre receiver and see if you like it. If you think you need more/cleaner power then add an amp later on (because ! you will need both receiver and amp anyway so it's best to sta! rt with a receiver and hope it's powerful enough- and it most likely will be- to suit your needs). Have fun....Show more
