When I turn 18 can I gamble?

Shawnna Kusky: If the other state allows 18 year old people to gamble, yes. Laws are based on where you are not where you are from.

Madlyn Fallis: If it is legal in that state or Indian casino, yes. You are not held by your state's "invisible fingers", you are only subject to the laws of the place you are in. I lived in CA 44 years, no gambling was legal at all there (outside of the lotto, later, and Indian casinos.) We could always go to Stateline and play. EDIT: Gambling laws on Indian casinos are set by Tribal, Not State, law. They can make whatever laws they want. But, if a casino allows Any gambling 18, it allows All gambling at 18. They don't "card again" once you are in there. Why lose revenue? REF: Live near 4 Indian casinos, been there. They are not subject to state gambling regs, like NV. Gambling age is 18 in ours, period. Drinking is 21, but, again, that is Tribal law and agreement with state law. They could make it 18 if they wanted to. They just don't ! so they don't have HS kids getting drunk there and crossing back into city limits where it is illegal, and city complaints/parent's groups, etc....Show more

Luana Carothers: If it's legal to gamble at 18 there, then sure. But understand that in most of the US, gambling for 18 year olds is limited to lottery tickets and horse/greyhound tracks.Casino gaming is almost always 21, however, there are some Indian casinos (not all, though) that will allow someone who is 18 to play Class Three games (slots, table games)....Show more

Dick Ovdenk: It doesn't matter what state you are from. It only matters what the age limit is in the state you are gambling.Gambling is illegal altogether in some states, but that doesn't prohibit residents of that state from going to Las Vegas and pumping money into the slot machines.
