I read once that Jewish weddings don't include a march down the aisle, is that accurate?

Dalila Yoon: They don't play the wedding march but they do march down the aisle. At least, it's an option. Also the reasoning behind not playing the wedding march, if true, is... I need a stiff drink, I feel.

Jess Grizzel: Traditionally speaking, there IS a wedding aisle that people march down at Jewish weddings.First the groom and then the bride. No, it wouldn't be a good idea to play Wagner at a Jewish wedding. Also see http://www.aish.com/jl/l/m/48969841.html for a basic breakdown of the ceremony....Show more

Alden Sabio: Jewish weddings DO include a procession to the Huppausualy (at least in America) there is an aislein other countries they walk down the street to the place with the Huppain all cases there is musical accompanimentthis is very traditionalwhere they walk down the street, musicians follow along with the celebrantsin America today in strongly affiliated Jewish weddings, the couple and the band sometimes work out separate themes for the different ! people who are walking down.recent research in folk music development has shown that Jewish wedding musicians were so important that many folk dances and songs of Eastern and Central European non-Jewish people were adopted from Jewish wedding tunes.-...Show more

Hwa Waterford: There s most definitely a wedding procession in Jewish weddings although it's somewhat different than Christian ones. Both the bride and groom walk down the aisle, each accompanied by both parents and there is normally traditional Jewish music played during the procession. The reason the wedding march isn't used at Jewish weddings is because the composer was a rabid anti-Semite.
