Especially in this economy, every class counts.Physical Therapist: They earn around 80K per year, but must complete at least their bachelors, if not their masters degrees. As you were once an engineer of sorts, you would be starting out with very few credits, essentially starting over for the next 4-7 years.Computer Engineer: As my father is a computer engineer I have some words of advice, this is a very tough and competitive field as it becomes more and more saturated. Although the pay is good, many of the jobs are becoming outsourced to cheaper countries. Marine Biology: Even if this major is fun for you, it is one of the lowest paying majors unless you transfer into Petroleum Engineering (closely related with Marine life and automotive tech) although petroleum engineers take 4 years( bachelors degree) they have the highest median salary in the united states for bachelor! degrees : namingly 150,000. Both majors require a strong foundation in the maths and sciences. Many Marine Biologists end up working for the government: regulation or education.Journalist: Although this is a very popular major, I would urge that you look at this from a practical point of view. Journalist is a tough career as many of the top firms only higher from the "top" universities which have a long history of providing talented journalists. Alexandria Popik: I am a 23 year old woman, have some college behind me, but was unable to finish the associates degree. My major was in automotive technology and I only had two more classes to graduate. I was offered a full time position at my job where I must maintain open availability, (retail) and I took it. I plan on going back to school and am no longer! interested in the automotive industry. I am torn between four! possible majors. I have a hard time deciding because I'm not sure if I could actually find a job in that field or if I would completely enjoy the career. I know that all four will require a lot of schooling and hard work, that doesn't scare me. Any insight and suggestions would be helpful.Physical therapist, I like helping people and was always the one who bandaged up my dad after his softball games, and helped with his knee surgery. I just don't know if the medical field is something I would enjoy doing for the rest of my life.Computer engineer, I like computers and am always the one hooking up and figuring out what was wrong with the computers at work. I know that computers are the future, but once again, I don't know if I could see myself working with them years down the road.Marine biologist/ Zoologist, I love animals, and I like them more then people. I have six aquariums set up with various fish as well as several animals. My childhood dream was to be a veterin! arian, but I am not driven enough to complete all the schooling for that. (Its more competitive then medical schooling) I feel that I would love any career with animals, I am just not sure about the availabilities of schools in my area or job opportunities. My ultimate dream with this major would be to study and research hands on with sharks. (Not likely to happen, but its another dream)Journalist/Writer/Editor, I've always enjoyed writing, and am really good at it. I just don't know how I feel about writing about subjects I might not have interest in. Writing has always been a major outlet of mine. I just do not know what my outlet will be for writing. Lita Thammorongsa: Are you going in order of wh! at you prefer? Spend some time researching these careers a bit more so you know your chances, pay, location or anything else. I do think you should go to college because its very hard to get a job otherwise. Actually I hear its pretty hard to get one even if you have a degree. I envy you. Im 33 not 23 and I wish I would have done my school time when I was your age. History to it but still. You have your dream job in mind out of those four and you should look into doing whatever you need to do. Having a job you love makes up for a lot of things. Minh Lefrancois: If you're lucky you might get odd jobs through friends to fix computers, but not much after that. Might help when looking for a basic office job.
Boris Hadsall: I've took two years off trying to decide which to go for, and very few classes will transfer ! over. I'm not asking for you to decide for me, but I am asking for input and advice into which would be a better option and why.
Amada Greising: Yes, for hire paid jobs they will. The universities that are harder to get in also have more difficult curriculum and the most highly regarding professors. The difference between the same major at two different universities at a Bachelor’s level can mean a difference of $20,000 or more in starting salary.
Brock Hladik: I always wanted to major in Journalism, but I would think of the many jobs not available in this field. You can always major in more than one thing. Us humans are interested in so many things that we all have atleast a left and right brain. For example, my professor told me last week he majored in English and Physics. See, totally different things. And now that I think about it, I think I want to major in Sociology and Journalism because I totally love both things.
